You went to Spa Eastman in the past year? How was your stay?

Spa Eastman recently received the honour of a Reader’s Choice Award from Spa Finder magazines but, what about you? What do you think about Spa Eastman since you’ve been there?

How was the place?
How was your room?
How was food?
What treatments did you get? How was it?
Was it a relaxation stay? A Weight Loss Program? A Raw Food Cure? Was it to your expectations?
How was the ”french atmosphere”?
Was it really relaxing? Fun? Energizing? Instructive?
Have you changed something in your lifestyle since you return?
Would you recommend it to your friends?

You don’t have to answer all of these questions if you don’t feel like it or if you don’t have time for it. You may only want to write what you liked best, or less. Whatever you feel like saying about your stay… is important because it can help other travelers to make their own choice.

    I thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment and I found the information you gave me very good. This proves that communication is very important and I think if you can train the staff at this Eastman Spa to take time to explain the different types of massages and what to expect and the process regarding insurance receipts would make for a much better experience.

    my friend and i just enjoyed three days at spa eastman. it was our third year in a row returning to spa eastman. the amazing food and quality of the treatments keep us coming back year after year.
    this year, instead of staying in the main pavillion, we chose to stay in one of the houses. it was a very fun experience, as we felt like we had our own little home!
    the only thing that surprised me was that we were not given many ammenities. for example, there was only bar soap and shampoo – no shower gel, bath salts, etc. Those were the little touches that we loved at spa eastman – being made to feel ‘spoiled’ with luxury.
    On the whole, our experience was wonderful, as we have come to expect from spa eastman!

    I was at Spa Eastman Montreal for the first time this past weekend for what was supposed to be the salt body exfoliation; I was mistakenly booked for the scrub, wrap and bath treatment but after a look of shock at the bill the receptionist was very kind and corrected the billing. I was very appreciative that i did not have to argue or even insist, and she even insisted there was a glove that came with the treatment that i could take home and went out of her way to find it! I was really impressed with the service and the staff! I can’t rave enough about how great they were!

    Unfortunately the room wasn’t as impressive. The facilities were very clean, nicely decorated, calming and everything was well maintained but the room the scrub was done in was very small, just big enough for a sink and a bed. I am 5’11″ and my feet were hanging off the end a little (nothing uncomfortable) but the aestetician could not move around the sink (where she prepped everything) without bumping them. It was a constant reminder of the smallness of the room and i found it to be less than relaxing. Also during the 30min relaxation with the wrap all i could hear was the loud rushing water and jets from what i can only assume was a bathtub in the room next to mine. It was loud enough to drown out the soothing music that was in the room.

    This was my second time at a spa ever and although overall i did enjoy the scrub and my skin felt great after, i would not be keen on returning to Spa Eastman for that sort of treatment because of the room. I understand that it is downtown Montreal and space is an issue but i felt that it took away from relaxing during the treatment. I really liked the staff and the service and this was not a completely negative experience by far, and i would definitely return to Spa Eastman but not for this sort of treatment.

    Thank you so much for taking time to write about your experience. You are right: this room is a bit noisy and it is the smallest room of Spa Eastman Montreal facilities. We have tried to provide head sets to our customers, in order to enjoy music instead of surrounding sounds, but so far, clientele did not want it. We will try to reajust.

    I hope we will have a chance to welcome you again at Spa Eastman Montréal. Our massage room are very spacious and silent, and our new panoramic lounge is a great way to enjoy our downtown situation, away from the hustle & bustle…

  6. My wife Lis and I were gifted a 2-day stay at Eastman, which we finally managed to enjoy just before the expiration date. We’re both healthy, without internal or weight problems, are non-smokers, with non-serious self-inflicted work stress —- all of which posed the question of what a spa visit could do for us. In a nutshell, it relaxed us, despite my not being a spa kind of guy. Lis’ only problem was my preoccupation with doing a brief travel story.

    The cuisine is not to be feared, combining a nutritious well-prepared mix of fruit, vegetables, meats, cheeses, poultry and seafood. The emphasis here, as in life, is on self-regulation.

    Our 1-hour massage did not bring pain to the shoulder surgery I had years ago (as happened at another spa), nor did it aggravate my lower ribs healing nicely from a minor accident; instead, we both felt mildly rejuvenated.

    Eastman Spa founder, President and General Director Jocelyna Dubuc is a dedicated visionary who has pioneered European-style professional spa treatments in Canada since 1977.

    Having just come off a lengthy tour of a luxury hotel chain in Europe, my wife and I were tough judges of Eastman facilities. Our conclusions: accommodations are comfortable without being luxurious; food is fresh, tasty and healthy but might use a little more variety; our massages were excellent; the staff was professional; the spa provides a semi-wilderness retreat with access to the beautiful surrounding Eastern Townships countryside.

    One minor suggestion: the lighting in the dining room could use more sparkle and brightness during evening meals — healthful soy or beeswax candles on each table, perhaps?

    An added benefit at Eastman is the evening lifestyle lectures (usually French language only). Except for that, staff members spoke French and English fluently, and were very friendly, polite and helpful to us.


  7. My husband and I love Spa Eastman! It has activities for those who are interested in fitness and those who just want to relax. The food is great and the ambience is so wonderful-the fireplace, the views, the personnel, and of course, Jocelyna, who makes you feel welcome each time as if you were visiting in her home.
    All in all, a perfect getaway!

  9. I spent the day at the Spa Eastman in Montreal. I had previously visited the other Spa Eastman and was very pleased. I expected the same level of professionalism in the Montreal setting. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with the facility. It was not as clean or refined as anticipated. For instance, the changing area was dismal, at best. The salon was disheveled. The pictures of water were not refilled all day. I watched the level of lemons and cucumber go down but no fresh water poured in all day long. The hot water was literally cold and I had to ask for tea water. The service rooms were fine, the staff was fine, a bit of a language barrier but not to the fault of the spa. The make-up artist shocked me. She asked what my usual colors were; I told her browns and olives and conservative. She applied pink, blue and enough eye liner to make me have to hurry back to my motel and wash it off. I didn’t want anybody familiar to me to see me look so ridiculous! This is NOT an exaggeration! The bathrooms were not what I expected. No toiletries provides, little ambiance, rough towels. Staff goofing around in the back room, out of site of clients but within earshot. I guess I was expecting a peaceful, relaxing time.

    I am deeply sorry to hear about your disappointment. Of course, our downtown location has nothing to do with our Eastern Townships location. We wish we could offer similar facilities, but in the meantime, it’s not exactly our first goal. With this Spa Eastman located in the heart of Montreal business center, we aim to offer Eastman’s clientele an easy access to our professionnal services and to Spa Eastman highly skilled massage therapists. From your comment, we understand that some of our package may sound as if one can really find the whole Eastman’s atmosphere, which is obviously not exactly the case. We will certainly consider your comment and take this opportunity to present our offer in other words.

  11. The place is well managed and the people who serve are the kindest I have ever met and very knowledgeable. The treatments are highly professional and my favorite was the hamman. Madame Dubuc, the owner of the Spa is outstanding for her availability, creativity and true passion for her spa. The forest offers serenity and it is meticulously maintained. I had only wonderful experiences in Spa Eastman, which I will recommend whole-heartedly to people who are looking for a “real” spa. I have been to many spas around the world through my travels and my visit to Eastman was the best.

The concept of health & wellness in all aspects of the experience(food, fitness sessions and spa treatments) is truly wonderful and helps to differentiate the destination from all others. I came back home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Thank you to Geneviève Hamel for her enthusiasm which makes you really want to move and push yourself. She is a true motivator!

    In terms of possible suggestions for improvement, I would like to mention the following:
    *Have water stations with sliced limes & lemons available throughout the property
    *Have bicycles available
    *Dinner should have a table d’hote menu (no buffet) with a selection of 3 appetizers, 3 main courses and 1 dessert selection. This would make the service more relaxed and help to portion control the food.»

    I thank you for your suggestions. About the idea of having water stations, it reminds me that there is one thing we do not mention enough: all the buildings and facilities (rooms, washrooms, relaxation room, waiting room, lobby, etc.) are provided with natural spring water of the highest quality. We should better inform our clientele about it.

    The bicycles? You are right and we are seriously thinking about it. Just as we are also considering the idea of “table d’hote menu” for dinner.
